This Kilimanjaro day tour may be completed using Arusha as the start and finish points (the drive takes around two hours each way), or you can spend the night before in Moshi.

Before the climb, your mountain guide will meet you for a briefing (often at your hotel). After that, you’ll go to Marangu Gate, the park’s eastern entrance. This location is 1,860 meters (6,046 ft) above sea level. At the entrance, your guide must complete the necessary documentation for your permit before you can start your journey into the deep Kilimanjaro rainforest.

You could see Blue Monkeys, the recognizable black-and-white Colobus Monkeys, as well as a magnificent diversity of birds, in addition to the amazing foliage.

It takes roughly 3 to 4 hours to ascend to the Mandara huts. After a well-earned break, you will have a packed lunch at Mandara Huts (2,700m/8,860 ft). It could be feasible to continue the walk to Maundi Crater depending on time. Great views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Northern Tanzania, and Kenya can be had from here (weather permitting). You will return to Marangu Gate and your guesthouse after lunch. It takes about two to three hours to descend from Mandara Huts.

Day 1

Mt. Kilimanjaro Day Tours (Marangu Route)

Your day tour begins with your hotel pickup at 07:00hrs Drive 3hours to the Marangu Gate, where you will register at the gate with the Kilimanjaro National Park authorities, and begin hiking at around 11.00hrs The Marangu Route, which we follow today, approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast. We will be attempting to reach the Mandara Hut and will only trek through the lower altitudes, taking our picnic lunch on the way to the Mandara Hut. Once we reach the hut at 14:00hrs, we will stop for a rest for 30 mins and then descend slowly back to Marangu Gate for 2.5 hours. A Congema Safaris vehicle will be waiting to pick you up and return you to your hotel in Arusha, arriving at 20:00hrs.
